State Fair Community College (SFCC) provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 5,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners.
The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county service area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, and online.
Position Purpose: In this role, the selected candidate will develop and foster strong relationships in the local agriculture community and the institution. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work with students, community members, employers, and coworkers to develop a strong workforce for the local agriculture industry
Essential Job Functions:
- Development and delivery of agricultural curriculum. Instructors are required to teach a minimum of 15 credits in each the fall and spring semesters.
- Other responsibilities include student advisement, club sponsorship, and a dedication to improving recruitment, retention, completion and placement rates for the agriculture program and the institution.
- Some travel for student activities, adjunct faculty observations at extended campuses, and professional development will be necessary.
- Other faculty related roles may be required.
- Evening classes and distance instruction (on-line and web-conferencing) may also be required.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively, both within the unit and campus wide, such as committee memberships.
- Assume duties such as lead instructor or program coordinator in addition to teaching requirements as needed
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a closely related discipline from an accredited university/college is required with a commitment to earn an approved Master’s degree within 36 months of initial start date
- Preferred applicants should have demonstrated a passion for education, an understanding of the community college population and a commitment to the mission and vision of SFCC, a concern for rigorous academic standards, retention, and outcomes assessment, and a mastery of active-learning techniques in the classroom.
Skills:
• Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to assume instructional-related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom such as mentoring adjuncts, and forming relationships with educators in the community.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to a changing environment is also critical in this position.
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement necessary curriculum, demonstration of excellent oral and written communication skills, and an ability to utilize the computer and other technology to manage and improve instruction.
- An ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner, a demonstrated sense of student centeredness and an ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines will also be considered.
- Proficiency in regards to technology - possessing knowledge of Learning Management Systems (Canvas) as well as other educational efforts such as Starfish.
- Willingness to teach in varying modes such as online, on ground, or hybrid as well as different hours and days of the week.
- The candidate must also demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and a sense of student centeredness.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
- Ability to move about campus and other locations.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds as needed
