Associate Dean of Admissions & Student Success
Position Purpose: Reporting to the Dean of Student Services, the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Success, is responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating a data-informed approach to improving recruitment and retention rates, and driving pre-enrollment engagement through innovative outreach programs, cooperative campus and community efforts and maximizing existing technology. Direct reports include Admissions & Outreach team, Student Success Navigator Managers, and TRiO Student Support Services Director.
Essential Job Functions:
- Hiring, inspiring, coaching and evaluating direct reports;
- Use innovation, creativity and cross-departmental collaboration to foresee challenges in recruitment and retention, and formulate strategies to overcome those challenges.
- In conjunction with Deans, Site Directors, the Director of Marketing and others on developing, managing and evaluating recruitment and retention initiatives, and use tools such as customer resource management (CRM) systems, communication technology, Banner and other software applications to improve effectiveness of admissions and enrollment processes;
- Cultivate relationships on and off-campus for the purpose of reaching the College’s recruitment and retention goals;
- Serve as a key contributor, rotating facilitator and continuous member of the College’s Enrollment Management Council;
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and desire to work cohesively, both within Student Services and campus wide;
- Remain acutely attuned to trends within community college recruitment and retention on local, state and national levels, and willing to creatively apply those lessons to improve functions and processes at SFCC;
- Monitor departmental expenses and exercise good judgement in requisition approvals, and other budget managements responsibilities;
- Complete tasks, assume committee obligations and decision-making responsibilities in the absence of the Dean of Student Services;
- Serve as back-up administrator for CRM (Slate);
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the College.

Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience leading a team (or teams) in a post-secondary environment, specifically in admissions, academic advising, student retention, transfer services, career services or student support services. Experience in a community college setting preferred.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; experience using CRM system preferred.
- Experience in accessing and processing data from a student information system; experience working with an Ellucian product (Banner or Colleague) preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to quickly changing circumstances and to use data to guide decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and manage conflict.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively

Physical Requirements:
- Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting.
- There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required.
- There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 20 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
