SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 4,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners.
The college offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Jefferson City, at Whiteman Air Force Base, and online.
Position Purpose: A full-time digital media communication instructor’s responsibility will include primarily creating, instructing and maintaining all elements, including equipment, of digital video courses at the Sedalia, Missouri campus though depending on experience and credentials, could include other areas. Potential courses include Media Productions I and II, Digital Video Editing, Digital Storytelling, and Graphics for Video. The position is an exempt faculty position with full-load instructional responsibility. Position will begin with the spring 2026 semester.
Essential Job Functions:
The instructor will be responsible for the instruction and evaluation of student performance while maintaining the standards and integrity of the communication curricula and the institution. The instructor must possess an understanding of the range of needs that community colleges address and be committed to retaining students and helping them achieve their academic goals through a sense of a student centeredness. The instructor will uphold the philosophy that students learn from frequent and timely feedback in a positive environment and use a variety of multi-media and other instructional strategies that effectively communicate the course content to this generation of learners. Furthermore, the instructor must be willing to improve instruction through professional development. The instructor must show a willingness to assume instructional related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom such as mentoring adjuncts, participating in professional organizations, serving as lead instructor, and serving on committees designed for problem solving and decision making on the division and institutional levels.
The instructor is expected to teach courses in a variety of delivery methods including eight-week, twelve-week and sixteen-week formats in on-ground, hybrid, web-conference and online settings. On occasion, the individual may be asked to teach an evening class. Knowledge and experience with learning management systems is essential and maintaining a classroom presence utilizing this technology is expected for all sections, whether online or on ground. In addition to the credit-hour expectations, SFCC faculty maintain a minimum of five student support hours per week and are available during the college's operating hours, Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Master’s degree preferred in digital media, communication, fine arts, film studies or a similar field; candidates with a bachelor’s degree and significant relevant experience will also be considered. Expertise in the Adobe suite required.
Desired applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for education of students, an understanding of the community college population, a commitment to the mission and vision of SFCC, and a concern for rigorous academic standards, retention and outcomes assessment, and the mastery of active learning techniques in the classroom.
Physical Requirements:
- Work involves sedentary to light work in an office/classroom setting.
- There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required.
- There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
